Our Hessel Street Hub is a safe, welcoming space where local residents can access vital support services, participate in engaging activities, and connect with others in the community.

Whether you're looking for digital skills training, want to join our friendly coffee mornings, or need access to essential items, our dedicated team and volunteers are here to help. Everyone is welcome, regardless of faith, background, or circumstances.

We believe that strong communities are built on connection, compassion, and showing up for one another. The Hessel Street Hub exists to be a place where no one feels alone, where help is always at hand and where every person who walks through our doors is treated with dignity and warmth. What we Offer

  • Digital Support

    Get help with computers, smartphones, and online services. Our trained volunteers provide one-to-one support to help you build confidence with technology, based on what you want to learn.

    Support includes:
    Basic computer skills
    Using email and the internet
    Online banking and shopping
    Job applications online

  • Coffee Mornings

    Join us for friendly, relaxed coffee mornings where you can meet new people, chat, and enjoy refreshments in a warm, welcoming environment.

    What to expect:
    Free tea, coffee, and biscuits
    Friendly conversation
    Meet your neighbours
    Reduce isolation
    Make new friends

  • Arts and Crafts Sessions

    Express your creativity in our arts and crafts sessions. All materials provided, and no experience necessary - just bring your enthusiasm!

    Activities include:
    Painting and drawing
    Card making
    Knitting and crochet
    Seasonal crafts
    Take your creations home

  • The Survivors Club

    A confidential talking support group for women who have experienced sexual violence. Find out more about The Survivors Club here.

    Come along to share, listen, or simply be in the company of others who understand.

    Each session includes facilitated group discussion, free conversation over refreshments, and optional hand sewing - no experience needed.

    When: Tuesday evenings 6:30 - 8:30
    Drop-in: No booking required

  • Community Support

    Our friendly team can provide information, signposting to other services, and a listening ear when you need support.

    Housing support information
    Food bank information
    Health service access
    Local resource signposting
    General advice and support

  • English Conversation Group

    A friendly, relaxed group for anyone who wants to practise speaking English in everyday situations. No textbooks, no tests, just real conversation in a warm, welcoming space.

    What to expect:
    Informal chat in small groups
    Everyday topics like news, family, and local life
    Patient, supportive fellow learners
    Build confidence in speaking
    Make friends from the community

  • Employment Support Sessions

    Get free, practical help with finding and keeping work in the UK. Whether you're job hunting for the first time or looking for something new, we're here to help you feel confident and prepared.

    Support includes:
    CV writing and reviewing
    Job application and cover letter guidance
    Interview practice and tips
    Help using job search websites

All of our sessions are run by volunteers from the local community, and we're always looking for more people to help. Whether you'd like to help facilitate a group, share a skill, or simply offer a friendly face, your time could make a real difference to someone.
